About the Event
XATIVA & BOCAIRENT
Bocairent is a medieval village located in the interior of the province of Valencia in the Sierra de Mariola. It is a village full of history, its caves are what characterize this place and its cobbled streets create a labyrinth. You can’t miss the visit of this village which is one of the most beautiful in Valencia where you can spend a nice day and have fun discovering.
Xàtiva is a town near Valencia, 25 km from the Mediterranean Sea. In the 12th century, the Arabs manufactured paper and this allowed the city to be known as one of the first European centres of paper manufacturing and education. It later became a centre for the most powerful families of the Renaissance: the House of Borgia, which produced Popes such as Calixtus III (Alfonso de Borgia) and Alexander VI (Rodrigo de Borgia). The castle is one of the most beautiful things in the city, it is located in the Castell mountain range and was the scene of many battles. The castle surrounds the city and despite its Iberian and Roman roots, most of the current walls and towers are of Islamic or Gothic origin.
